It’s that time of year again! The Boise River WMA staff and I have determined that Friday, April 24th will be the setup day for the BRWMA archery range. The WMA will open early for the season tomorrow, but the access roads are still closed. The archery range will officially open on the normal date of May 1 when the roads are reopened.
If you would like to volunteer, we will begin setup at approximately 10am. Setup will consist of hauling targets to their designated locations, ensuring the paths to the shooting points are clear and targets are secured to concrete bases. With the success of last year’s planting, depending on the number of volunteers we have, we may do more planting as well.
A few notes:
- Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and the task including hiking boots and gloves.
- Please wear sunscreen or clothing that will prevent sunburn.
- Snacks and water will be available but please bring your own lunch if you like.
- Dogs must still be leashed through April 30th. If you bring a dog, ensure it is leashed at all times, even if it is the best dog on Earth.
- When you arrive, please sign in on the volunteer sheet. We rely on volunteer hours as part of our match for federal funding and it keeps the range going!
The gate will be dummy locked since the roads are not officially open until May 1. Please close the gate behind you and leave it dummy locked – since the WMA closure is being lifted early, there’s a chance that some people may not understand that the road is still closed.
