The vote was unanimous to change the name of the Fallen Archers shoot to the Spring Fling Traditional Shoot next year. The clear blue skies and sunny Saturday morning chill made for exceptional shooting conditions, in spite of patchy snow and some muddy spots on the 20 target course. Over 70 archers registered for the shoot, and many renewed their memberships, including one new life member: Butch Olson, who commented, “I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner!” Thanks Butch! and thanks to all who renewed.
The Kid’s Competition was a highlight for the young shooters.

A total of 16 shooters competed in the kid’s division. Good sportsmanship among our young people creates good ethical hunters of the future. Congratulations to the kids and their parents!
Don Schroeder set up the Bowhunter Challenge course. Five dollar entry fee to create the money pot, with a slight change in the scoring; 10 for vitals, 1 for foam, and 0 for miss. Larry King took top score, second place was Mr. Oxnam, a shoot off for third and fourth between Adam Floyd and Kevin Schroeder decided the 4 prize money winners.
Many thanks to the vendors who showed up with beautiful arrows and bows, Basecamp Archey, Pat Lopez and Wayne Stutzman with Shade Tree Shafts.
Thanks also to the Houlihan’s who provided a big pot of elk meat chili and to Jeff Middlemas who cooked up hot dogs and fritos and to Lisa Hall who brought buns and condiments, and delicious brownies by Laura Christian.
Thanks to the many volunteers who worked hard to set up the course on Friday and take down the course on Saturday. You are so much appreciated! We couldn’t do this without you!
This is always a great gathering of local club members and a chance to enjoy some amazing bird life and beautiful scenery and shake off the shooting cobwebs…see you again at the Expo on March 21-23 in Oregon and/or the Bow-birds and Litter Pick-up on April 5th at the same Black’s Bridge location for the meetup, Highway 52 for cleanup, and then barbeque and bowbirds at Wayne and Pat Stutzman’s property.
