Hello Members! The Saturday afternoon Traditional Madness shoot hosted by the Nampa Bow Chiefs was a great success! Thirty two people participated in this inaugural event. We shot a Vegas round and a speed round, and a flying dragon, expertly painted by Dave Dewey. Thanks to Nampa Bow Chiefs, ITB members, and the vendors: Pat Lopez (Basecamp Archery) and Joe Palmer (War Eagle Bows) who came out and helped make it a festive event. Nampa Bow Chiefs/ITB members, Dave Dewey and Wayne Forrey and Russ Scharman, who worked with the kids, really made the shoot memorable. Janet set up an ITB table and was able to renew several ITB memberships. The shoot is set to repeat again next year, so if you didn’t make it this year maybe you can next year. I’m sure you would love it!
Coming up in 3 weeks, March 1, 2025 Saturday, is the Fallen Archers Shoot…(next year to be renamed Idaho Spring Fling Traditional Shoot) at Black’s Bridge Wildlife Management Area off highway 52. The target trailer, hauled by Dave Hall, should arrive in the early afternoon on Friday February 28, so volunteers can begin unloading and setting out the targets. We have folks who will camp at the site to watch the targets overnight. Registration and shooting will open at 9amMST and remain open until 4pmMST, at which time volunteers are once again called upon to help take down the targets and load the trailer. Bring your picnic lunches and enjoy the fellowship of traditional archers. Awards for the kids will be at about 2pm, so shoot cards for them need to be turned in by !pm. Janet and Bill will bring a pot of chili and any other additions to the soup are welcome. Check out the flyer on the website for details, directions, and times. Tell your friends and spread the word…it’s a great one day event for families and new archers, as well as a tune-up for the old timers.
Let’s fling some arrows at 3D targets in the beautiful wildlife area!! Bring binoculars to watch the flocks of migrating birds and maybe get to see the real living moose that inhabits the area. See you soon!
