Hello fellow bowhunters! Our September monthly meeting has been cancelled to allow for plenty of time to be out in the field hunting. I was excited to be going out this Monday but instead of packing for elk hunting, we’re packing for possible evacuation due to growing fire danger and toxic smoke in our homeground and elk hunting area. I’ll be unplugging my computer and loading all ITB club paperwork into a safe place until the threat has passed. I’ll be in touch when the air clears and the fires are abating.
An update on club happenings for your information:
Highway litter pickup has been successfully transferred from the treacherous Highway 55 stretch to the safer area on Highway 52, milepost 12-14.4, (We don’t do the two bridges). Look for the signs to be moved designating the ITB group as the pickup folks. The highway department wants a three times yearly pickup, so we need to discuss how we can be in compliance with their requirements.
The annual report for the Idaho Secretary of State has been filed.
Thom Tash is completing the target inventory so we have that information for the insurance company. I gave an estimate to our insurance carrier for the value of the trailer and its contents, so he will be getting back to me with a tentative quote for us. John Warford spoke to his insurance agent and wasn’t able to get a good quote, so we’ll be going with our usual liability carrier, if it’s not too expensive.
Dave and Lisa Hall got a weight on the trailer and found that the fully loaded trailer is about 1000 pounds over recommended capacity. Dave is checking in with a local Payette guy who might be able to replace the axles and tires with beefier components and will get back to us with the information about cost and feasibility.
John Warford picked up the target stakes and has inventoried them and found we have 4 different colors, about 30 of each color. He has some questions that maybe someone can answer: Why are there 4 different colors (red, pink, orange, grey)? John suggested repainting the grey so we just have 3 colors (red, pink, orange) and 40 stakes of each color, enough for our courses. He can also repair the few stakes that need new caps and are broken. He also wants to know why some stakes are 1″ and some 3/4″? Thanks John for dealing with this!
I’ve been in touch with Bob Bourland about the cost of the Convention Center for the Expo and he is waiting for a reply from the manager of the center. I also heard from the folks from Nevada that were at the Expo last year and want to come on board with some ideas for a short 3D course. We need to investigate the requirements for shooting bows at the Convention Center.
